Winter, Spring and Fall can be downright temperate in Houston. But Winter can be freezing and even bring some snow. Hence the fireplaces in many homes. In Summer, just stay indoors, and be sure your car is air-conditioned. If you must venture out, do it in the morning or evening and take some bottled water. Social events where you might be required to wear a suit and necktie up North (wedding, funeral, church, political convention) you can wear a polo shirt down here. No, really. You do not want to go to a Summer funeral in Houston in a dark suit. Hurricane Season starts around the end of July and lasts through October. -- by Aussie Meyer
